Winsor Pilates REVIEW – Hands-On with Slimming Pilates from WinsorSlim.com

Mari Winsor Slimming Pilates Content

You’ve probably noticed I’ve posted a lot about Mari Winsor Slimming Pilates from WinsorSlim.com lately. Well I bit the bullet and purchased the product right after the holidays! I’ve now worked out with Mari for 3 weeks. I figured it was time for me to talk about my own personal experiences with it.

If you’re a regular visitor to this site, you know I like saving money. Not just because it’s nice to get things at a discount, but also because my husband and I just don’t have that much money to spend. I’ve been doing Pilates for a while now and thought it would be great to be able to do some workouts at home. Well, that idea evaporated the second I saw the prices for a new Reformer or Cadillac…$1000…$1500…$3000? It was while searching for an alternative that I found Mari Winsor Pilates and the Slimming Pilates system.

WHAT IS MARI WINSOR SLIMMING PILATES?

The site WinsorSlim.com describes the Slimming Pilates system as a new Pilates workout that combines traditional muscle-defining sculpting with figure-slimming cardio. It sounded interesting, but that’s why the marketing guys get paid the big bucks. The real attraction for me at first was the price: $59.90 was a lot more attractive than $1500. Granted with shipping the total jumps to $74.85, but again: that’s a lot more attractive than $1500. Still, my fear was that I would get stuck with some cheap piece of crap that wouldn’t help me do the Pilates exercises I was used to from my classes at the Y. Turns out, I was wrong.

The Winsor Slimming Pilates system arrived in a slim box containing the following items neatly packed:

- The Accelerator system: a short bar, two hand weights, and two clip-on handles with a resistance cord
- A case with 3 DVDs: Superfast Body Blast, ABsession, and a Quick Start weight loss program
- A pamphlet called Mari Winsor’s Rapid Results Weight Loss Plan
- And a tape measure (good for checking how things are progressing)

There were also several bonus items:

- A door attachment for the resistance cord
- A wall chart with information on different workouts that can be done with the door attachment
- Pilates of the Fit & Famous workout DVD
- Mari Winsor’s On-The-Go Eating Guide
- And information on getting a free 30-day trial of the VIP access to Mari Winsor’s Web Club

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The equipment is sturdy and well made, not the cheap crap I feared I would be getting. The short bar and hand weights are durable coated metal wrapped in a foam grip. The diameter is big enough that you can really get a firm grip during a workout and the foam grips are comfortable and easy to hold even with sweaty hands (though I’m curious how they’ll hold up over repeated workouts). The clip-on handles and resistance cord have similarly robust construction with the same foam grips attached by strong fabric straps to metal clips (in the case of the handles) and metal rings (in the case of the resistance cord). In addition, the resistance cord has a really nice fabric covering. There are also four metal caps used to attach the resistance cord to the short bar and hand weights. Finally, the bonus door attachment was made with the same strong fabric straps as the clip-on handles. Overall I was impressed, though it would’ve been nice if they’d included a mat. I recommend using a standard yoga mat – I have several.

FIRST WORKOUT

My abs are how you say? Not good. So for my first workout I decided to try the ABsession DVD. It starts like you’d expect with a basic imprinting routine and then on to some hundreds. After that, we got to the main event and busted out the Accelerator. A few minutes after looping my feet through the handles for the first time and I forgot all about Reformers and Cadillacs. There were also some fun exercises involving the door attachment. The different moves were simple enough, involving different ways of bending your legs to create resistance with the resistance cord, but I was sweating just as much as I do at my classes at the Y. 20 minutes later it was all over and I could barely get off my butt to hit the ‘power’ button on the remote.

I needed a day of rest before my next workout. This time I chose the bonus DVD: Pilates of the Fit & Famous. I figured if it’s good enough for Charlize Theron, it’s good enough for me. (I don’t know if Ms. Theron actually does any Mari Winsor workouts, but she’s been my nemesis since I first saw The Cider House Rules.) You get four different workouts to choose from. Since my abs were still screaming I decided to go with the Cardio workout. The Accelerator is used again, though this time the workout was less focused on the abs and involved more of a full-body routine. There’s plenty of variety to keep things interesting and, to keep the heart-rate up, the progression from one exercise to the next is pretty quick. By the end I was dripping with sweat yet again (and swearing a bit according to my husband). What surprised me most about this workout was how much fun it was. There were three other workouts on the DVD, but I ended up just going through the cardio workout a second time.

THIRD WORKOUT

A few days later I decided to skip the DVDs and just use the door attachment since it was so much fun. This is where the bonus wall chart comes in handy since it shows how to do all the door attachment exercises from the ABsession DVD. Let me start first by saying you should really make sure to follow the instructions when using the door attachment or you might end up sporting a bruise on your shoulder like mine (though apparently the other people in the room will find this entertaining). This wasn’t Mari Winsor’s fault, though, I just forgot to make sure the door was fully closed. The door attachment exercise routines mostly involve lying on your back and pulling against the resistance of the cord with your legs. While I felt like I got an ok workout, it was definitely slower having to check the wall chart before each new routine. I’m sure this process would be faster once I learned all the moves, but I found I missed the DVD workouts. The rest of you may feel differently, though, since being able to quickly check the wall chart may be faster than having to grab the dvd, open the case, find out you’re husband didn’t put the disc back when he sat down to watch Commando for the 500th time, finally find your DVD under the couch, pop it into the player, etc.

OVERALL FEELING ABOUT THE VIDEOS

The workout DVDs are effective and, at first, exhausting! They got easier with my second and third times through and I felt like they went by quicker. Mari Winsor is a great on-screen coach. You can tell she’s been doing this for years and her experience pays off. She is good at explaining the proper position and breathing for each move, but doesn’t chatter on and on or act over-hyped like other video trainers I’ve used. The background music is OK – it keeps the energy level up. The videos themselves are well-made with helpful menus and fit the good quality of the Accelerator and other materials. While I can only hope to look like the models in the videos, they do a great job demonstrating the full routines and the all-important scaled-down versions for beginners.

WINSOR PILATES SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Well, as you can probably tell I really love Mari Winsor’s Slimming Pilates. Not only does the Accelerator bar let me get the same great workout I’m used to from my classes at the Y, but also some amazing cardio workouts that I was surprised to find in pilates exercises. I know this is going to have me looking forward to putting on a swimsuit for a change. The Accelerator is compact enough that I can bring it with me on vacation or on our trips back home for the holidays. And the best part is it all costs over $1000 less than any other Pilates equipment on the market. Once you see the workouts, you’ll realize as I did that this is real pilates with the bonus of added cardio.

I have to say the Winsor Pilates Slimming System is one of the select products I’m really excited to recommend. It is working for me and is a good exercise solution for experienced pilates fans and newcomers alike looking to lose weight and get fit this year. Highly recommended!

Winsor Slimming Pilates is sold exclusively at WinsorSlim.com.

Your post is a good way to shed weight together. Every person should motivate the other. Also, it is always better to have a partner with a simlar weight loss goal a person to motivate you in any weight loss plan to do. Encouraging each other is better and if you have a partner you are less likely to let that friend down.

  2. Caroline Lewis says:

Thanks for the good review. How does the door handle attach to a door? Does it attach to the doorknob, and if it does, does the knob have to be round, or do you think a lever knob would work? Thanks for any help with this info.

  3. Kate says:

Hi Caroline. Assuming the current Mari Window Slimming Pilates package is the same that I got, the door knob attachment should work fine with a lever door.

Good luck! I’m still going strong and I feel great!

  4. Caroline Lewis says:

Thank you for responding so quickly, Kate! I have had good results with pilates, especially using a Reformer, so I’m excited to have something like that at home, but at a greatly reduced price!

I’m so glad to read that you are still doing it, which means it hasn’t gotten boring. That can be a problem with some DVD programs. Keep up the good work!

  5. susan wood says:

i placed an order on line with these jerks, they advertised a free 30 supply of their supplement Lifemax, well to my surprise i get a bill for 29.95, because they convert the order to a 60day supply and you are suppose to know to read the fine print as to what meaning #3 means in another paragraph. They are dirty, lowdown scammers!

  6. Judy says:

My thirteen daughter really wants this product. I have never been to your site before and I am impressed with your review. However, you do a lot of linking to the Winsor Pilates site, which leads me to believe you are some how marketing this product for them…..I may be wrong, since I am not familiar with your site, which we stumbled upon tonight….Your thoughts please!!
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

  7. Kate says:

Hi Susan. I’m sorry to hear about your lousy experience. I don’t recall the Lifemax offer when I ordered my set. One thing that occured to me, though, is that many places that have offers like this give you 30 days free if you sign up for their program and then they’ll just start charging you for the next 30 days unless you call to cancel. Is that possibly what happened?

  8. Kate says:

Hi Judy. I do make a small commission if you order your Mary Windor Slimming Pilates set through my sight, but my review was completely based on my own experiences with the kit without any input from Mary Winsor. I think you can see from the comments here that there are many other people who have had good experiences, but I would encourage you to check out reviews on other sites, too. Good luck and please let me know if you have any more questions!

  9. elisa frye says:

watch out ordering this from the 800 phone number given in the TV ad. The Accelerator/Pilates DVD set itself sounds very effective (This evening I ordered it, and IT ALONE, with GREAT DIFFICULTY) but you order TOTALLY from a recorded voice (no way to reach a live human) and you risk paying for “extras” that you don’t want and didn’t want to order–the recording continually insists that you MUST accept a gift of free junk (that you don’t want) so they can keep charging your credit card every month for more junk you don’t want. Almost impossible to get them to accept your “NO!” If my order comes exactly as ordered, I will gladly come here and give them a favorable review but I am uneasy about this just yet. Based on other complaints of this nature, the phone order site may be running a scam.. Too bad–the product looks like a fine idea and I am enthusiastic about the program itself.

Kate, I wish I had found your site before I ordered this. I wonder if you could get through to Mari Winsor and warn her what is going on and how it could damage her fine reputation–I bet she doesn’t know the 800 fulfillment company is trying to pull this kind of thing on HER customers. I find it infuriating and too close to being dishonest for my peace of mind. It’s very disappointing to see Mari Winsor’s name being sullied this way.

  10. Kate says:

Hi Elisa. Thanks for the information on your order. Please let us know how it arrives. I’ve been forwarding along any of the complaints I receive, but I don’t have any real connection with Mari Winsor. I do find it frustrating to see the reputation of such a great product (IMO) being harmed by a difficult ordering process.

  11. elisa frye says:

OK, Gang–GO FOR IT! Kate’s right–this is a truly great product!! I was very concerned about my phone order at the 800 number as I they kept trying to add on stuff “for a free trial period” (Yeah, right–and then get charged for it and not be able to get it turned off if it is like most of these offers.) Also, I was NEVER given a total then of what this was going to cost me (see my earlier comment) All in all a very upsetting experience. Well, the package arrived today and was exactly as they promise on TV. And it was also the exact price they quote on the TV infomercial. (And didnt contain any of the “junk” offers I didnt want.)

The DVD’s are excellent and so are all the other parts of this set. I ran through a couple of the exercise segments. I am 15 pounds overweight (all of it in my midsection) and also out of shape but I was able to find plenty of exercises I could do in a slightly modified form until I make some progress and limber up. (even the very out-of-shape can find a “a starting place” using this program.) So I had fun and felt like I had “worked my bod.” I can tell it is going to be effective if I just keep at it.

Mari’s directions are crystal clear as are the demonstrations, and anyone who does this faithfully WILL lose pounds and inches. My conclusion from viewing all the DVD’s and using the gear is that all components of this kit are the high quality you would expect from someone with Mari’s reputation.

  12. Kate says:

Wow, Elisa. Thanks for letting us know how your order worked out! I’m glad everything showed up as expected and good luck with your workouts. I really can’t believe how much better I feel since I got started with Mari Winsor’s workouts.

  13. Lilly Bedi says:

    Dear Kate,
I live in sydney australia and have each and every one of maris dvds. I am so upset, the new winsor slim is not sold here, I am soooo desperate to purchase this, i am getting married in six months time and desperately want to purchase it, I even contacted winsor slim and they said they would not ship it to me to sydney. my email is lil117@hotmail.com. I will gladly send you a money order, or pay by internet banking or any payment you require up front, but would you be able to purchase the winsor slim package for me, and I would pay you the package, and all of your postage costs to sydney. I really really would like to try the winsor slim, and also, good luck to you in doing the winsor slim. thank you kate

  14. Christine says:

I’m curious, has anyone purchases previous Mari Winsor TV offers? I have several of her DVDS and they all bear a similarity. While she is consistent, I fear buying the same thing all over again with just a few modifications for this new piece of equipment. I have the first set of mostly classic-type pilates, the slight changes for the circle, the slight changes for the ball, the sort of weak cardio-dance DVD, etc. So if you have other Mari Winsor DVDs, how does this compare? Does she talk less? How is “dynamic transitions” different than her previously touted “dynamic sequencing”? Are they basically the same thing? Thanks for any comparative reviews you can provide.

  15. Lisa says:

I work out with my daughter. I want to order Mari Winsor’s workout with the accelerator, but I need an additional accelerator. I have not found anywhere that I can order another. Does anyone know?

  16. Kate says:

    Hi Lilly,
I would love to help you out, but I’d hate to be the middle man if it turns out you didn’t like the equipment or something broke, etc. I’ll try contacting Mari Winsor on my own to see if there’s any way to get the product shipped to you.

  17. Kate says:

    Hi Christine,

I haven’t really used Mari Winsor’s other products so I can’t speak about the similarities.

Can anyone else give their opinion?

  18. Kate says:

    Hi Lisa,

My only suggestion would be to try contacting customer service to see if they can help you out: customerservice@winsorslim.com.

Good luck. Please let us know if you have any success since I’m sure you’re not the only one with this problem!

  19. amanda says:

Well I’ve watched all of the mari winsor ads for this product but I’m scepticle about buying since I’m no where near the physicle size of the models on tv. Is there any one out there that is over weight by 100Lbs and has a bad back that has used this pilaties program and product?

  20. Kate says:

    Hi Amanda,

I’m not overweight by that amount so I can’t speak from direct knowledge, but I do know that Pilates is great exercise no matter your size. Since it’s all about strengthening your core muscles it’s going to help a lot with posture and stresses on your joints (not to mention helping to shed those extra pounds).

Is there anyone else out there with more direct experience that can answer Amanda’s question?

  21. cheryce says:

Thank you for the review on this product. I purchased this product earlier this week and hope to get it in the mail this weekend. I’m really looking forward to trying this new accelerator.

  22. Jayye says:

I’m tempted to purchase this as it seems like a great workout but I’m concerned about being able to utitlize it fully as none of the doors in my house are situated so that I can watch the DVDs. Reading another review, it did seem as if some of Winsor’s moves were replicated from one DVD to the next with minor modifications for specific pieces of equipment added in (ex. ball, accelerator, etc). Still on the fence….

  23. graciela says:

    Hi Amanda,

I’m not overweight by that amount either, but i can share with you that I herniated a disc in my back x-mas 2008. Earlier this year I started working with a trainer strengthening my core and back utilizing pilates and i can tell the difference in my strength and back pain. Numerous doctors told me that if i wanted to prevent this from happening again i needed a strong core. Insurance helped me cover my rehabilitation, but now i’m looking at this program for an at home solution and i can’t wait to try it. I would highly recommend using this program along with a 1x a week session with a pilates instructor to really get the techniques correct as that is crucial when you are doing pilates if you don’t want to do more harm than good to your back.

  24. Lilly Bedi says:

Hi Kate, how is the pilates going, good I hope. well i would really appreciate it if perhaps i could send you a money order, or put money into ur account, have the product delivered to, and I would pay etc for it to be posted to my address in sydney, gosh i really would like this product, thanks kate

  25. doris says:

I am about to order this product. However, I do not like ordering new products over 800 #s. They are always trying to sell you more stuff that you don’t want. I want to go directly to the website to order it. Has anyone ordered online instead. It seems to me to be the most logical way to order it.

  26. Ashley says:

Is anyone having issues with the accelerator breaking?

  27. Keesha says:

I have a question..does anyone have the additional weighted ends and extra 2 DVDs? I wanted to order them, but I wasn’t sure if it was necessary or how to incorporate them into the exisiting workout sheet.I love mine and I ordered it when it first came out. It’s so simple to use and you really feel. Unfortunately, I stopped using mine, but I’m back on it now!

  28. HanH says:

    Hi Christine,

I haven’t really used Mari Winsor’s other products so I can’t speak about the similarities.

Can anyone else give their opinion?

  29. Joan says:

Hello ! I just signed up at a new fitness gym (Planet Fitness) & hired a personal trainer for 3mo. That part is ok, however, of all things, while working on the treadmill, lo and behold I saw the Windsor Slimming program. I have had some Pilates at a studio working on the reformer and cadilliac. On my side of town there isn’t one studio, so I resorted to this gym. I really really like Pilates and so you can imagine my delight while cranking away on this treadmill I saw the Windsor Slimming ad! I go 3x/wk for 1 hr sessions, and the workout varies and I do enjoy it. My main question before I purchase the Windsor is, will my work out regime and Pilates work against each other? I recently lost 25 lbs (5′1″-168 lbs, now 143) & I am 77 yrs old, but in great health and very active. I’m trying to keep my agility/balance. I have been athletic all my life. I became a “care taker”for a couple of years and if you don’t use it, you lose it! Another reason for the gym is just to get me off the farm and away from other duties, just 3 hrs/wk for ME! So, back to the question – gym 3x/wk and Pilates in between – what do you think? Sorry for being so windy!

  30. Kate says:

    Hi Joan,

Thanks for writing! First, let me say you’ve given me much hope for the future. My image of me in my 70s barely involved being able to walk around, so I’m excited to hear you’re managing to workout at least 3X a week…and with a personal trainer no less!

As for your questions, I don’t know how much help I can be. I’m not an actually fitness trainer or physician of any kind so I can’t say for sure whether working out with Mari Winsor Slimming Pilates on the days you’re not at the gym is a good idea. I was always taught to rest a day in between workouts (which is how I’ve been handling myself while using the Mari Winsor system), but I don’t know if that’s still the prevailing way of doing things. Any fitness trainers/physicians lurking around this blog that may be able to answer Joan’s questions?

  31. [...] mentioned in an earlier post that, even though I’ve been enjoying Mari Winsor’s Slimming Pilates, I’m ready for some variety. I spent some time browsing the web and talking to friends and [...]

  32. Emma says:

Hi Kate, just wanted to ask if you have had much weight/inch loss while doing this workout? If anyone else has had any results from these dvds would you mind sharing on here? Thanks

  33. Kate says:

    Hi Emma,

I’ve been using Mari Winsor slimming pilates regularly since about mid-May now. I actually started in Feb but was laid up for a few months due to a car accident and lost most of my gains. I definitely look/feel better, but the surprising thing for me was that I haven’t lost much weight. What I notice the most is that I’m getting seriously toned up. Even though my weight isn’t all that different when I step on the scale (I’m about 5lbs down, give or take) I look more fit and my shape has definitely changed. I actually need a belt these days…

I think the key is to find something you enjoy and stick with it. I really like the advanced workout that comes with Mari Winsor Slimming Pilates so it’s been easy for me to stick with it.

Any else have some results to share with Emma?

  34. madruby says:

    Hi Kate,

I was just about to order the WinsorSlim but fortunately stumbled on a few reviews sites. One of them mentioned that this new Winsor-Accelerator program is not really for beginners and should be used by those who are in OK shape (actually, the commentator said good). She also said that this program is for those who have also had Winsor pilates experience and has no back pain issues.

I have never done Winsor pilates. I am currently taking Stotts Pilates (with the reformer, cadillac, etc…) but it is only once a week. I have also had on and off yoga/pilates classes.

So…do you think a person needs to have done the Winsor Pilates Basics (I think what a lot of people refer to as the 20 min workout that came out a few years ago). I was about to buy myself a Stotts reformer cuz I like working out on it but this program would be so much CHEAPER! On the other hand, I woudl not want to buy a product that may cost less, but would not be able to enjoy it or profit from it if the workout is more geared to the seasoned Winsor pilates students.

    Any thought anyone…tks!

  35. craig says:

the product looks very good and the comments also rave about it (ie the actual product). I really want to buy this new winsor program BUT….90% of the reviews also trash the customer service. Long delays (some people have waited over 30-45 days to receive it), parts arriving that are incomplete, maybe broken but NO HELP from CS, no access to winsor’s internet support group and NO HELP from CS with password, etc…; refund process is a nightmare and NO HELP from CS – I guess by now, you get the point. I have never read the word SCAM more often than when I was reading these winsor slimming reviews.

It’s really unfortunate. Does winsor even know that the company she hired to market her product and to provide CS (apparently, the CS is somewhere in the Philippines????) is so atrociously bad that people cry about them on all these blogs?

In any event, I would really like to buy this product Kate but I am very concerned with the rest.

    Got any pointers for me?

  36. Kate says:

Hi Madruby! In my opinion, if you’re already doing some form of Pilates once a week I don’t think you’ll have any problem jumping into Mari Winsor Slimming Pilates. I was in a similar boat to you (I did some Pilates during the week) before I picked up the Winsor Pilates set and I didn’t have any trouble. That’s just my experience, though.

    Anyone else have thoughts?

  37. Kate says:

Hi Craig! It’s been very frustrating to read all the bad comments about Mari Winsor Slimming Pilates customer services. I didn’t have a bad experience with my order, but it’s obvious from our comments here that some other people have. I wish I had some pointers for you. If you do decide to order the set, please come back and tell us about your experience.

  38. Nicole says:

    Hi Kate,
First of all, thanks for being a responsive contact on the Winsor Slimming Pilates product! I live in South Africa and bought the system last week from a store here and REALLY like the program already, the resistance the accelerator provides is really effective. The problem is that I can’t access the Web Club, I contacted support to get the link for registration but I don’t have a US or Canadian address so I can’t sign up and I also refuse to give out Credit Card details online for something which is supposed to be free trial for 30 days, especially in light of all the problems I keep reading about and the fact that international calls to resolve these would cost me an absolute fortune. The only reason I really want to access the club is for the intermediate and advanced workout calendars as I have been using the Winsor basic set of 3 DVD’s prior to this and feel I’d like to try more than the beginners calendar supplied with the new product. I have contacted support on this issue but not received a response…would it be possible to help me with these please? Thanks in advance, Nicole

  39. Faustine Tan says:

    Hi Kate,

    Nice review you’ve got there.

I’m from Singapore though, and its hard to get Winsor Pilates Slimming Set here.

I’ve sent an email to Customer Service @ WinSlim, and I hope they reply soon about shipping the kit to me.

However, I’m pretty new to Pilates, but am really aiming to tone and slim down below my waist, so I think this kit could be it! Would I have any issues doing the exercises?

    Thank you.

  40. KimAnn says:

    Hi Kate,
I just started researching this Mari Windsor set and everything I have read has sounded encouraging so I’m pretty sure I’m going to order it.

Currently I am working out to Mari’s “Shape” Pilates for Pink Core Challenge and Mari’s “Cardio Pilates”. I prefer the “Shape” video but after using it for a couple of months I am beginning to find it less challenging. I think this new set would solve my problem.

I have read the complaints about ordering online or via the 800 number and am not going to go either of those routes. I have found the set is available at Amazon.com and will order it there. This may be great for others on the fence because of the apparent issues with ordering the other ways. It also may help the lady from Australia if she has not yet found a way to get the set.

Thanks for the great info on the product!

  41. Kate says:

    Hi Faustine,

I’m not a doctor so I can’t say for sure whether you will have any trouble with Mari Winsor Slimming Pilates, but it does come with several different levels of exercises so it seems like there should be something right for you. Good luck!

  42. Kate says:

    Hi KimAnn,

Thanks for the info. Please let us know how your ordering experience goes!

  44. Rella says:

I have had the product for a week and have completed 5 workouts. It arrived promptly (which surprised me as I am in Canada). I ordered online so I felt I could make knowledgeable choices about any add-ons. I have had other Mari videos and not enjoyed them as much as I enjoy this series with the acellerator. I did add on the extra videos with weights for the future as I felt that I would eventually like to change things up and have an extra challenge. My one concern/complaint is for the “free” 30 day VIP membership…it requires a credit card number when you sign up. As most “free” things, they must automatically charge you after the 30 days. I find these annoying to cancel and therefore won’t benefit from getting the “free” new workout calendars as advertised.

All in all, I have found the product itself to be what I expected.

  45. Kate says:

Hi Judy, Thanks for the enthusiastic info on the door attachment!

And thanks, Rella, for the info on your order. I am glad to hear you had good luck with the ordering process. And I didn’t try the VIP membership for the exact same reason. I always forget to cancel those things and then 6 months later I’m staring at my credit card receipt wondering what the heck this thing is that I’m getting charged for every month. Good luck with the program. I still really enjoy it!

Many years ago I purchased Mari’s original Pilates videos. All of the workouts were 20 min. long, easy for a beginner(it was my first Pilates experience), and very good on my bad back. I did the workouts in my living room on a yoga mat. If something made my back sore, I just left it out until my core was stronger and I could try it again later.

By just using the basic video, I saw excellent results. She says that after 10 workouts, YOU’LL FEELl a difference, after 20 workouts YOU’LL SEE a difference, and after 30 workouts OTHER PEOPLE WILL SEE it. Boy, she couldn’t be more right!! After just over a month of doing the workouts, my butt and hips were so slim that people made comments about how firm I was looking from behind. For a pair-shapped woman, this couldn’t be any better of a compliment. Furthermore, my core became very strong and, in turn, my back became stronger.

Over the years I’ve gone back to doing a few months of these old Pilates videos when I feel like my core/back are not what they could be. For only 20 min a day I think it’s more bang-for-your-buck than other workouts. It’s worth noting that my Pilates experience kicked-off my commitment to life-long health. I took up a walk/run program that has now allowed me years of pain-free running. One benefit of her videos is that they really increased my overall flexibility and strength at the same time. I got toned and stretched in one session.

Now, as I’ve developed into a beginner triathlete(it’s taken me years to get here), I’m looking to order WIndsor Slim to help keep my core & back strong again. I’ll post to tell you how it compares with her old videos and how I progress using them. Kate, thanks for all of the info. on your site!

Wow, Jamie. Thanks for telling us your story. Glad to hear you had success, too. I’m loving all my new core strength and flexibility, too!

    Hi everyone!

I purchased this product in August and have not been able to use it until recently, we recently bought a home and then the holidays came. I have to say I absolutely love the program and the accelerator. However, that said, I’ve used the system maybe a dozen times, if that and the middle bar of the accelerator where the hand weight screws on has broken off! I contacted customer service and they told me my 90 day warranty is up and they will not replace the broken part for free. I am absolutely appalled by this and am more than upset!!

They told me: “I apologize but I can no longer process a free replacement order for you. Our items have a 90 day product warranty and if you exceed the 90 days, you will have to place a new order for that item.” This email has infuriated me! I’ve barely used the product, it is completely unusable and the DVD’s cannot be used without the accelerator. I will not be purchasing an additional $70.00 worth of equipment for something I already own and is broken.

Has anyone else had an issue with the accelerator breaking?

  49. Kate says:

Hi Kris. I’m really sorry to hear that your accelerator broke. I haven’t had that problem, but maybe some other users can respond with their experiences. I’m not sure what to do about the 90 day warranty except maybe to try calling customer service again and ask to speak to a manager. I haven’t had to do this with Mary Winsor products, but speaking to a manager was the only way I could get results for the numerous problems I’ve had with my cable company. Good luck, Kris, and please let us know if you have any success.

    Hi Kate,

I did take your advice and gave them a call. They insisted on the 90 day warranty and then I asked to speak to a manager who was “busy” she came back on the phone and offered to refund my shipping. My reply was that would be great, except I cannot use the product at all. I asked to speak to a manager again was put on hold and told they were “busy” again. Then she offered to send me a new accelerator within 7 to 10 business days. Hopefully it does come. I’ll make sure to let you know when and if it arrives!

    Thanks again for the suggestion!
